Ascertra Cloud Only Position for On-Premises Proarc Customers
Ascertra has received these questions from Proarc on-premises customers regarding the recently issued cloud position, Ascertra’s policies for Proarc on-premises support end of life, and migration to Proarc Online.
Questions regarding Ascertra cloud only position, on-premises support end of life
1. When does support end for Proarc 7.4? Proarc 7.5?
Please refer to the Proarc 7.4 end of life notice. Ascertra does not intend to issue Proarc 7.5 end of life notice until after the Proarc 7.6 general availability release.
2. Proarc 7.5? Is Proarc 7.6 the final on-premises software release?
Yes, after Proarc 7.6 service pack on-premises customers will not receive further software releases. Ascertra will continue to deliver hotfixes for product defects for supported software versions until end of life.
3. How does Ascertra plan to handle it if many of us don't want to convert?
Ascertra will continue to support on-premises software versions until end of life. After that point, customers who own perpetual software licenses and continue operate the software will do so without support from Ascertra.
Questions regarding Proarc application functionality cloud vs. on premises
4. Will Proarc Online customers have full admin rights available with Proarc on-premises?
There are differences in access to administrative and configuration functionality between Proarc Online and the Proarc on-premises versions. In the Proarc Online environment, customers are not entitled to direct access to the database or application servers, for security and compliance reasons. For further details, request a copy of the document “Differences in functionality in Proarc versions”, PRODUCT-T-SD-0005 from the Support team, which provides detailed functional comparison of the latest Proarc on-premises version and Proarc Online.
5. Are there any plans to make ProAdmin functions available for Online customers?
Ascertra has delivered new functionality in the web client to meet administrative requirements and continues to plan further web-based administrative features in the Proarc Online product roadmap.
Ascertra will develop modern innovative solutions to administration and configuration in Proarc Online instead of focusing on rewriting all legacy ProAdmin functions in new technologies.
Recognizing timing requirements for migration to Proarc Online, time required to deliver administrative functions in Proarc roadmap, and the importance of business continuity for processes dependent on ProAdmin functionality, Ascertra plans to offer an online service for ProAdmin, using Azure Virtual Desktop, app streaming, and additional logging, with some functional limitations.
6. Is it possible to configure document profile layout and initialization rules?
Today, these features can be implemented on request in Proarc Online by the Ascertra professional services team. The modern UI initiative in the Proarc Online roadmap includes these features, but availability dates are yet to be confirmed.
7. Is it possible to create and maintain shared result lists in Proarc Online?
Yes, Proarc Online offers the shared list functionality.
8. Is it possible to customize document templates and merge scripts in Proarc Online?
