Master Interface Plan Outline
Master Interface Plan
The purpose of the Master Interface Plan (MIP) is to provide a single set of clear and consistent rules to properly identify, manage, and facilitate the resolution of all interfaces and avoid scope gaps/overlaps or integration issues between interfaces during the development of the project.
Key project benefits provided by a MIP:
- A culture of shared ownership - everyone has a shared end goal and what they need to do to achieve it
- Clear policies and procedures which allow for consistency in interface management, issue identification, and conflict resolution
- Defined expectations and outlines for key stakeholders' responsibilities
- Universal definitions and terms to ensure global understanding across all teams
